Grape Varieties: Touriga Nacional/ Tint aRoriz / Touriga Franca
Colour/Condition: Deep violet and garnet.
Aroma: Perfumed aroma of violet and blue and red berry fruits.
Palate: The mid palate that has richness yet beautifal elegance. This is
a fruit forward wine that shows the beauty of the old vine Douro fruit and has
seen minimal oak to enhance this. The softer sweeter character of the Touriga
Nacional and Tinta Roriz varieties is nicely evident on the mid palate and the
fine tannins ensure a complex yet balanced wine. .
Pruning System: Bush Vines.
Average age of vines: 45 years.
Vinification: 50% in traditional cement autovinifiers and 50% in open
granite lagares. The lagar fruit was foot trodden for a minimum of 4 hours and a
maximum of 8 hours, resulting in present yet incredibly fine tannin that will
allow the wine to age for a number of years to come. Temperatures were
controlled during fermentation to between 22 and 24 degrees
